Christmas in Prison

As we gather together with our family and friend this holiday season to surround ourselves in love and warmth, let us take a moment to pray for solace for our brothers and sisters sealed in concrete boxes throughout our country.  A great many are there unjustly.  Let's never forget how easily you or yours could be doomed to that circumstance.*  It's a fate worse than death and whether we perceive those incarcerated as "guilty" or not - it is a great source evil that places them there.  If any of us out there deserve a miracle or the grace of God, it is those locked away from love.  Mercy begets mercy and Love and forgiveness are two things that everybody needs for Christmas.  In honor of He whose birth is celebrated through our holiday gathering, have mercy…

*The U.S. prison population rose by 700% from 1970 to 2005, a rate far outpacing that of general population growth and crime rates.
