Your Daily Technocracy V.1

Future World - Smart Dust

Do you want to connect to WiFi?  Doesn't matter - you will be connected anyway:

Forget the Internet - soon there will be the OUTERNET: the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) plans to beam free Wi-fi to every person on Earth from space

An ambitious project known as Outernet is aiming to launch hundreds of miniature satellites into low Earth orbit by June 2015
Each satellite will broadcast the Internet to phones and computers giving billions of people across the globe free online access (and brain cancer?)

Will You Wear Google's Throat Tattoo?

Motorola Mobility has filed a patent application for an electronic smart tattoo that can intercept subtle voice commands, subvocal commands, and subconscious thoughts.

The device would read an auditory signal from the tattoo and convert it into a digital signal. The signals from the brain, conveyed by spikes on the hundreds of laryngeal nerve fibers, are already digital, but they bear no similarity to an auditory signal at this point. After conversion in the many muscles that control the speech organs, there is still no single signal that could be sent to a transducer to generate sound recognizable as speech.

Oh Say Can You See (the Conditioning)

What if all of the distracted sports fans of the world suddenly realized that there are actually important things in the world actually worth fighting for?

Think of all of that broadcasting real-estate on all of these networks, now devoted to middle-aged men in grey suits sitting around talking about OTHER men throwing and kicking balls around a field.  What if all those airwaves were suddenly freed up for use?

What if all those pointless sports statistics and gossip filling the minds of so many men and women around the world were suddenly erased?  What could be done with all of that extra energy?

What would millions of folks do on weekends if there was suddenly no games on to sit around idly drinking and arguing over?  What would these people do with their time and energy?

What if government subsidies, trillions of consumer dollars, and all of the large scale sweat-shop merchandizing efforts related to the sports industry suddenly ended?  What ifbillions of dollars in sports contracts, salaries and merchandise  were suddenly freed up to be used for something with actual purpose?

Huxley wrote that non-stop distractions of the most fascinating nature are deliberately used as instruments of policy, for the purpose of preventing people from paying too much attention to the realities of the social and political situation.

He said, "Only the vigilant can maintain their liberties, and only those who are constantly and intelligently on the spot can hope to govern themselves effectively by democratic procedures. A society, most of whose members spend a great part of their time, not on the spot, not here and now and in their calculable future, but somewhere else, in the irrelevant other worlds of sport and soap opera, of mythology and metaphysical fantasy, will find it hard to resist the encroachments of those would manipulate and control it.”

Some wonder how such an obviously corrupted government can get away with what it does.  Some wonder why duhMericans, even when made aware, continue to support and contribute to the terrible corporate travesties that endanger our entire planet and everyone on it.  Many wonder, why is it that the masses do not ban together and rise up to ―
